How to Measure Your Feet

A step-by-step guide to getting accurate foot measurements — essential before ordering any barefoot shoe brand.

⚠️ Why can't I just use my usual shoe size? Each barefoot shoe brand has its own size chart based on the inner sole length in centimeters — not the EU/US/UK size you're used to. That's why taking a foot measurement is essential.

1

Trace Your Foot on Paper

You'll need a blank sheet of paper and a pen or pencil. Place the paper on a hard floor — not carpet.

  • Place a bare foot on the paper
  • Put all your weight on that foot (standing, not sitting)
  • Draw a contour around the entire foot
  • Do both left and right feet — they are often different lengths!
A B C (length)
Line A = longest toe · Line B = heel · Line C = foot length
2

Measure the Foot Length

Now you have both footprints. Grab a ruler and follow these steps:

  • A Draw a horizontal line near the longest toe
  • B Draw another line near the heel
  • C Draw a vertical line from line A to line B — this is your actual foot length in cm
3

Add 0.5 cm on Each Side

This is the most important step that many people miss. Your foot expands slightly during each step — so the inner sole of your shoe needs to be a bit longer than your foot.

  • E Add 0.5 cm above line A (toward the toes)
  • F Add 0.5 cm below line B (toward the heel)
  • D Draw a vertical line from E to F — this is the desired inner sole length

Example Calculation:

Actual foot length = 25 cm
+ 0.5 cm top = 25.5 cm
+ 0.5 cm bottom = 26 cm
→ Target inner sole = 26 cm

Use the Brand's Own Size Chart

Now that you have your inner sole measurement (in our example, 26 cm), look for this number in the brand's own size chart. Every barefoot shoe manufacturer publishes their size chart — it's typically located near the size selection on their website.

  • Each size chart is different — don't use your usual EU/US size
  • Find the nearest cm number that matches your inner sole length
  • For example: if the chart shows 25.9 cm = size 40, you would order size 40

Key Takeaways

  • 1.Always measure both feet — choose the larger measurement for sizing
  • 2.Measure standing with full weight on the foot, not sitting
  • 3.Add 0.5 cm to each side of your measurement before checking the size chart
  • 4.Every brand has a different size chart — always check the brand-specific chart
  • 5.When between sizes, choose the larger size
